花信风 begged for his student's life, because 阿修罗主宰 got the power of reviving the deads. 花信风 said he would like to pay for it his weapon, and even his freedom. His weapon, aka 衍那魔刀, was from 魔域, where was supposed to be a place for devils and human can't reach there. Many years ago, he forced his way to there for casting his sword. Then for a long while he didn't found a way out, so he had to stay there, and became the owner of 冥灵殿. So this two guy actually were colleagues) 阿修罗主宰 also admired the talents of 花信风, so he didn't want the sword. He asked for three demands, and the first оne is 花信风 should treat him as his owner, always acted humbly. He took off his shoes, as a humiliation, a reminder of his inferiority. As for last two, he didn't make up temporarily.

阿修罗 said yes to the request of bring this boy back to life. But he didn't like, that 花信风 take his student as something more important than sword. He think that would become a betrayal of the loneliest life swordsman should step in, since 花信风 already lost his dignity. So he decided to revenge, he wanted to break his heart. And actually, he can't make the soul go back to the body of a dead man. 天祸妖狐 is just a walking dead, without the original ego or heart, all he know is obeying his master--阿修罗, who gave him the first order, to kill 花信风.

In DoD, ep 3, there's an interesting dialogue between 花信风 and 冷剑白狐.
花信风：Take your saber and show me your ability!
冷剑白狐：Shizun...
花信风：Fight me.
冷剑白狐：Shizun, I can't.
花信风：I said, fight me.
冷剑白狐：Shizun, I can't do it. 'Cause... evil python sword(his weapon) is a sword.
*Everything hushed we can almost heard the sound of snow floated down*
花信风：It snows again.
冷剑白狐：But the snow never stopped.
花信风：*turn back and into the room* You thought I don't know it's a sword?
冷剑白狐：I'm sorry, shizun.
